Job Description

An established real estate investment and development firm is seeking an Assistant Director, Development to lead multifamily projects from inception through delivery. This position will oversee all phases of the development lifecycle, including due diligence, entitlement, design, financing, and construction execution. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in multifamily ground-up development and the leadership ability to manage internal teams, consultants, and capital partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive full-cycle project execution, from initial feasibility through stabilization, ensuring alignment with financial and scheduling goals.
• Own the financial model and development proforma, maintaining accuracy in key assumptions throughout the process.
• Lead design development by setting critical path timelines, managing third-party consultants, and navigating the permitting and approval process.
• Oversee the capital stack process including investor communications, offering materials, and term sheet analysis, in partnership with senior leadership.
• Serve as the primary point of contact during construction, facilitating draw reviews, change orders, and project reforecasts while supporting investor and asset management updates.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments including acquisitions, preconstruction, construction, and risk management.
• Mentor junior development professionals to support their growth and enhance team capabilities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications a plus.
• 5–9 years of progressive experience in real estate development, ideally with a focus on multifamily projects.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
