BHE GT&S JOB DESCRIPTION BHE GT&S is seeking a Compression Services Technical Specialist 1/Technical Specialist 2/Sr Technical Specialist for our Western or Northern Area Headquarters. As an Engineering Technical Specialist, you will provide onsite technical support to field operations to ensure reliable, safe, and compliant operations of reciprocating engines and compressors.
RESPONSIBILITIES Job Responsibilities: • Provide engineering/technical support to Field Operations to promote quality and efficient Compression operations.
• Understand and interpret Compressor performance curves and determine if a more efficient practice is available.
• Provide technical support to technicians, specialists, engine mechanics, and contractors to ensure proper assembly and maintenance policies and procedures are being adhered to during equipment installation and maintenance processes.
• Support system hardware and software for real time horsepower, control and communication systems.
• Provide technical support to operations on reciprocating gas engines and compressors during maintenance activities, equipment failures, and troubleshooting.
• Develop, standardize, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, work procedures, installation procedures, and training manuals.
• Develop and conduct training classes as required.
• Support project teams, operations and other engineering groups on the development, review and interpretation of Pulsation and vibration studies as they pertain to Compressor Stations.
• Provide support in the engineering, construction, installation, startup and commissioning of natural gas reciprocating engines and compressors and electric driven reciprocating compressors.
• Manage multiple issues, projects, and initiatives within area of responsibility.
• Lead all aspects of capital projects to include developing and managing the budget, opening and closing the project, developing the work scope, selecting contractors, developing and managing the schedule, and providing technical support.
• Provide support to Engineering and Operations in the completion of annual projects.
• Represent company as a member of external technical committees and organizations, including involvement as company representative at industry meetings and conferences (GMRC, PRCI) as requested by leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS Technical Specialist 1 - Minimum 0-2 years of engineering experience or natural gas experience.
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles, theories and practices.
- Ability to learn and successfully apply a basic knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Ability to learn and design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Good oral, written and graphical communication skills required, to include basic technical writing skills.
- Ability to learn and conduct standard tests, measurements and experiments.
- Ability to function as a member on a technical team.
- Organization skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Basic knowledge of computers, keyboarding skills and the use of Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and applicable software programs.
- Demonstrates questioning attitude, problem solving, analytical and abstract thinking skills.
Technical Specialist 2 - Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated competencies in applicable discipline.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, theories and practices.
- Ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Effective oral, written and graphical communication skills including technical writing; ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements and experiments. Ability to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
- Ability to function effectively independently and as a member on a technical team.
- Organization and project management skills.
- Proficient personal computer skills including knowledge of applicable software programs.
Sr Technical Specialist: - Minimum 5+ years of engineering experience or natural gas experience.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering principals, theories and practices.
- Ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
- Strong oral, written and graphical communication skills including technical writing; ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements and experiments. Ability to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
- Ability to function effectively independently and as a member on a technical team.
- Excellent organization and project management skills.
- Excellent personal computer skills including knowledge of applicable software programs.
Education
Bachelor (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
