Job Description

Random House Children’s Books has an opportunity for a senior level editor to manage approximately 35 titles per year including board books, storybooks, leveled readers, chapter books, and activity books based on major licensed properties from Disney, Nickelodeon, Universal, Netflix, and many other licensors. Must be comfortable working on rush projects under tight deadlines. 

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Managing and editing a publishing list of approximately 35 titles per year 
  • Managing and/or mentoring junior staff members 
  • Brainstorming new book and series ideas with licensors 
  • Hiring authors 
  • Editing manuscripts 
  • Writing title information sheets and web copy 
  • Obtaining licensor approvals 
  • Collaborating with designers 
  • Reviewing all stages of book development 
  • Presenting individual titles and book series at Sales Conferences

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel 

This is a remote-eligible position open to candidates residing within the United States, with core work hours primarily aligned with Eastern Time Zone.  

The salary range for this position is $81,500 – 83,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
