We are currently seeking a Red Hat Linux Consultant to join our team in pune, Mahārāshtra (IN-MH), India (IN).

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled Red Hat Linux Engineer to join our internal colleague facing intranet team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, configuring, and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems in a production environment. You will work on system administration, automation, and troubleshooting tasks to ensure that our systems are reliable, secure, and optimized for performance.

As a Red Hat Linux Engineer, you will collaborate with other teams to support the Linux-based infrastructure and drive initiatives related to system stability, security, and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL8) systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and uptime.
  • System Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, health, and logs to identify and resolve issues promptly. Provide support for critical system outages and incidents.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement security policies and practices including firewalls and regular security patching.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts for system configuration, management, and deployments using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Shell scripting.
  • System Performance Optimization: Tune and optimize system performance for both hardware and software environments. Perform capacity planning to ensure systems can scale as needed.
  • Backup & Recovery: Ensure that data is regularly backed up and can be restored as needed. Implement disaster recovery procedures for RHEL systems.
  • Patch Management: Manage the deployment of security patches and software updates to Red Hat systems while ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Networking & Connectivity: Configure and manage networking services (e.g., DNS, NTP, VPN, DHCP) on Red Hat systems and troubleshoot network-related issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, DevOps teams, and other IT professionals to support system needs, enhance performance, and resolve operational issues.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Prepare regular reports on system health, performance, and security audits.
  • System Integration: Integrate RHEL systems with other infrastructure and software tools (e.g., monitoring, logging, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Cloud & Virtualization: Support Red Hat systems in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and manage virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, or OpenStack.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in a production environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in system administration for RHEL8.
    • Experience with RHEL package management, yum/dnf, and configuring system services.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills for Linux-related issues, including kernel, networking, and application-level problems.
    • Experience with automation and configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
    • Strong understanding of networking concepts and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
    • Solid knowledge of security practices (e.g., firewall, SELinux, SSH configurations, and VPNs).
  • Scripting Skills: Proficient in shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python, etc.) for automation and system management.
  • Virtualization & Cloud: Experience with virtual machines in the Azure cloud environment.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Experience with log management tools (ideally ELK stack) and system monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Nagios).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., BICEP, Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in Elasticsearch is a big plus
