Job Description

Nature of Work

Under general supervision, this position provides administrative oversight for Bureau for Medical Services (BMS) staff to support the goals and objectives of the statewide Medicaid Program in the area of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) grants and contracts.

This role works closely with the Bureau’s Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and other key staff to manage projects and priorities. Responsibilities include writing and editing informational materials, as well as contributing to the development of policies and procedures manuals.

Working under the guidance of the Director, this position is responsible for the coordination, development, and management of work plans and project management tools for all special projects within the bureau.

Duties include:

  • Coordinating and facilitating meetings, developing agendas, and maintaining updated activity logs accessible to all project members.
  • Consulting with BMS staff and stakeholders on projects and serving as the lead specialist for project team members across the bureau’s initiatives.
  • Assisting the Program Manager in tracking priorities, timelines, and key activities.

The position also plays an active role in the expansion of initiatives and supports the Director in committee-related functions. This includes:

  • Researching long-term care systems in other states
  • Developing materials for committee use
  • Assisting in the facilitation of committee meetings

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Training : Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Substitution: Additional experience as described below may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Two (2) years full-time, equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in a technical or program area that is related to the area of employment.

Substitution: Post-graduate education in a field related to the area of employment may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of fifteen semester hours for one (1) year of experience.

OR

Master's degree in social work from a regionally accredited social work program from a regionally accredited college or university.

Note : Appointment above the entry rate may be made at 5% for each six (6) months of successfully completed work as an intern in a practicum placement with the Department of Health and Human Resources for the Master of Social Work degree.
