Role Description

As a member of Detroit Opera’s (DO) Human Resources department, the Human Resources Coordinator (HRC) executes many necessary serial and continuous tasks essential to the company’s daily operations. Under the leadership and guidance of the Senior Director of Human Resources (SHR Dir.), the HRC largely supports DO through hiring, by organizing and initiating recruitment for open positions, and by administering first-day orientation of new employees. The HRC supports current staff by coordinating DO’s benefits, executing necessary steps of open enrollment and fielding unemployment claims. The HRC possesses strong communication skills and effective organization skills. The HRC exercises discretion and tact at all times. 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED 
  • Minimum one year of clerical/administrative experience 
  • Proficient in Office 365 suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel 
  • Demonstrated organizational skills 
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and with tact 
  • Ability to understand diverse perspectives and acknowledge the significance of differences and complexities in background, cultures, values and viewpoints as the foundation for an inclusive environment.
