During the school year we run primarily small therapeutic adventure-based groups out of our site in Danville NH. For most of these group we take vehicles and pick students up from their school district and bring them back to our site or another location. We do structured challenge activities as well as more wilderness adventure experiences. These programs are typically 4-5 hours long.

In the afternoons and evenings we run our adventure-based counseling practice as well as our therapeutic mentoring program for non-masters level facilitators. Sessions run an hour at a time and are based out of our office in Danville.

Every clinician provides an average of 24 direct service hours per week. Indirect service hours are flexible and some can be done from home.

During the Summer we continue with some groups and counseling, but we have more variety of needs. We do more team-building programs for sports teams, community groups etc. We also run a high adventure summer camp program that travels the Acadia area of Maine and the White Mountains in NH. Trips are 5-8 days. Staff are typically assigned to 2-3 trips per summer.

Lastly we do some large group programs at school sites in the fall and spring. Anywhere from 40-200 students at a time. These groups are more psycho-educational, but the groups are all run through experiential learning.

Why Adventurelore?

We are a small program of professionals who thrive off of positive energy and a family atmosphere that is more relaxed (but professional) than a typical clinical setting.

Primarily community based programming so you are rarely required to travel often.

One of the only therapy programs in the area that allows you to do community-based adventure therapy.

44 years of experience in the field. We've grown with the field and we've literally helped write the book on it. As far as we know Dr. Jason Holder was the first to ever write a book about using adventure-based therapy for individual client sessions. As a small program you will have an opportunity to grow as a professional. We give constant feedback and support to all of our staff on top of weekly supervision for our therapists.

Competitive pay in the field. For bachelors level or new non-licensed clinicians we provide very competitive pay to any other community based program. As you move up in experience like obtaining a masters or becoming licensed your pay increases and it is also adjusted with time, experience, and cost of living.

Great location. Not far from 101. You can quickly get on the highway to get up north or over to the seacoast. 70 minutes to Plymouth and 30 minutes to the ocean.

Who is a good fit for us?

Intuitively good decision makers.

Someone with a great sense of humor and knows how to use it effectively.

Individuals who are driven to grow and do their best work.

People who are physically capable to not only participate in all activities, but capable of physically doing activities while facilitating others with little or no experience. We can teach the hard skills, but you must have the energy and physical capability to facilitate others.

Someone who thrives and enjoys a fast paced environment that demands a lot of energy, but at the end of the day you can go home and do the other things you love to do in your life.

Our schedule varies based on groups and clients each day.

If you have questions please contact us in our main office 603-382-4661. You can also email us directly at Office@adventurelore.org.
